Charlie - 2 1/2 Years Old

Charlie was 2 1/2 years old on the 20th.  I can't believe how fast he is growing up.  It seems like we can actually have a real conversation with him now and his speech gets better every day.  He is pretty much officially potty trained (99.5%) and is doing so well with it.  We have occasional accidents but they are to be expected.  He started "class" recently and he is loving it.  He is in Ms. Rachel's 2 year old class and he is enjoying it so much.  He comes home everyday telling me what color he learned that day and showing off his latest creation.  He is also still loving sunday school and looks forward to it all week.  He asks quite often what day he can go to sunday school with meme.  He is starting to listen really well and his temper tantrums and whining have gotten so much better.  He has OCD to the extreme and everything has to be done in a certain order according to him.  He will notice anything if it is not the way it should be.  He has a great personality and loves to be silly and make people laugh!  He enjoys going on the boat, he's always asking to go to the beach and look for crabs, and loves riding his tractor.

 He loves cake!
He loves his Uncle Bud!
He loves Collin (even though they fight all the time)!

 He loves his KK!

 He loves being funny!

He loves dressing himself!

And he really loves his sleep!

Kaylin - 4 months old

Our baby girl is already 4 months old!  She is getting so big!

  • She is starting to coo and make noises
  • She has a beautiful smile
  • She is a very happy baby and rarely cries (unless she's hungry)
  • She's finally sleeping through the night (9:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.)
  • She loves bath time
  •  Her personality is really starting to come out

Charlie is getting much better with her and has turned into quite the little helper.

She weighed 12 lbs., 10 ozs. at her 4 month checkup.  We are so in love with this sweet girl!!

4th of July and other random stuff

We celebrated 4th of July by spending the day at the islands with our family.  We left there and headed to the Beach for the fireworks.  Charlie loved them and Kaylin slept through most of it.

The end of the month was spent in Apalachicola/St. George Island, FL spending time with my grandma and granny.  It was a wonderful trip with all of my family coming minus Josh who was in Key West that week.

Kaylin Hope - The Birth Story

On April 11th, I woke up and started getting ready for work.  Within 20 minutes of being up, I started having mild cramping.  I blew it off as nothing and finished getting ready.  I took Charlie to daycare and by the time I got to work 30 minutes later, I was in so much pain that I couldn't sit up straight.  I left work telling them I was going home sick for the day.  By the time I got home it was about 7:30 a.m. and I thought I was going to die (literally)!  I still kept telling myself that the pain would pass and waited until the doctor's office opened at 8:30 a.m.  I was hurting so bad at this point that I could hardly talk to the nurse when she answered and all I could do was cry.  She asked me how far I lived from the hospital and told me to get to the emergency room immediately.  I got there and was rushed upstairs to labor and delivery.  At this point, I still didn't realize that the pains I was having were contractions because I never felt them when I had Charlie.  I was thinking the doctor would check me and send me back home to rest.  Well when I got upstairs my doctor was waiting and immediately checked me.  I'll never forget the look on his face when he looked from behind the sheet and said "Your 7 cm dilated and we're gonna have a baby today".  I cried my eyes out for about 5 minutes just thinking about how "not ready" the baby was to be coming at only 33 weeks.  My doctor assured me everything would be ok but said we may have to send her to USA Women's and Children's Hospital.  They were preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.  By 12:30 p.m. baby girl Kaylin Hope arrived weighing 5 lbs., 11 ozs!  They rushed her to the nursery and put her on oxygen.  The next 12 days were a blur as we dealt with having her in the NICU and balancing visits with her and taking care of Charlie at home.  During this time, she lost almost a pound and was put on a feeding tube.  On April 15th we were finally released and were so happy to be home (in our own bed)!
